Definition: Inquiry to me is a student choosing and investigating a topic/idea and then drawing conclusion based on their investigations.

Student Choice

The webquest provides limited to no choice for the students.

Students can just follow the procedure without selecting an idea on their own.

The webquest provides a significant number of choices for the students.

Students are given at least 5 options to choose from a list.

The webquest either provides a significant number of choices with the option for the student to choose their own topic, or students will choose a topic on their own without any selection examples.

Investigation

The student is given step by step instructions to complete task including detailed questions and the exact web-links to find answers online.

The student is given step by step instructions to complete task but gives only a minimum of resource and student must find some on their own.

The student is given directions but must create a procedure on their own in order to complete the task.  Student is pointed in the correct direction to start with but then needs to find reliable resources by his or herself.

Drawing Conclusions

The webquest provides closed-ended questions and has learned only the content that was selected.

The webquest contained probing questions along with closed-ended questions.

The webquest contained probing questions and required the students to create a deliverable that uses the knowledge gained and applying to real world situations.
